Our chapter in the new volume Making Geographies of Peace and War explores geographical dimensions of postcolonial conflict in Southeast Asia, rethinking the classical political geographical concept of the shatterbelt in light of contemporary understandings of colonial and post-colonial violence in three national settings: Vietnam, Philippines, and Indonesia.
